One of the frustrations of learning to fly is the UK weather, its unreliability makes it hard to book a block of lessons in advance. To solve that problem Rob offers training near Montauban in Southern France where the weather is generally more settled.
There are daily flights from Bristol to Toulouse (1.5 hours flying time), and Toulouse is only an hour away. There is plenty of accommodation in the area around Montauban, which you can book independently. Rob’s English neighbours also offer full board accommodation and another close neighbour has a newly built self-catering gîte.
An advantage to staying with Rob’s neighbours is that Rob would be in a position to collect and deliver you on route to the airfield (20 minutes away). This would negate the need for you to hire a car.
Camping is available on the airfield for €10 per night, however a car would really be required as there are no shops within easy walking distance.
Whether the training takes place in the UK or France, we encourage you to book a week’s course, as more progress is made when you focus your efforts entirely on flying for a week. Normally 10 hours flight training should be possible within a week, especially in Southern France!
Accommodation is also available at Over Farm if required and Gloucester is only 5 minutes drive away with plenty of alternate accommodation options.
